Joyful mother holding her baby, representing a warm, non-religious humanist naming ceremony in Kent.

Humanist Naming Ceremonies in Kent

I’m Becky Jones, a Humanists UK–accredited celebrant. I create joyful, non-religious naming ceremonies to welcome a new child, celebrate adoption, mark a blended family, or affirm a new identity — warm, modern, and completely tailored to you.

A joyful welcome, made personal

A naming ceremony is a joyful, non-religious way to welcome a child and celebrate family. Together we’ll create something warm, modern and personal — shaped around your story, your values, and the tone you want.

What I offer

As a Humanists UK–accredited celebrant, I create bespoke humanist naming ceremonies. They can celebrate a new baby, adoption, a blended family, or affirm a new identity — always written from scratch and led by you.

What’s included

We’ll start with a relaxed planning chat where you can share what you want to celebrate and who you’d like involved. I’ll write a bespoke ceremony script and share it with you in advance so we can tweak anything needed. If you wish, we can include readings, music, poems, family contributions, and symbolic rituals. You can also include guideparents/mentors/champions and create promises that feel right for your family. On the day, I’ll lead the ceremony warmly and clearly so it feels smooth and stress-free.

Celebrate your family — your way

Whether it’s a small gathering at home or a bigger celebration at a venue, the ceremony can be as relaxed or as structured as you like. The aim is a joyful moment that feels authentic to your family — welcoming, inclusive and memorable.

Easy to plan, lovely to experience

  • Enquiry + quick chat — You tell me the date/location and what you’re celebrating (new baby, adoption, blended family, new identity).
  • Planning call — We talk through names, family story, who’s involved, and the tone you want (fun, calm, formal, relaxed).
  • Script + approval — I write the ceremony, share it with you, and we tweak it until you’re happy.
  • On the day — I lead the ceremony and guide everyone through it, keeping it warm, smooth and stress-free.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have a question? Email me at becky.jones@humanistceremonies.org.uk and I’ll be happy to help.

No — a humanist naming ceremony is non-religious. It’s a personal celebration centred on your child (or your new family chapter) and what you want to promise and celebrate.

Yes. Many families choose guideparents (sometimes called mentors, champions, or “odd parents”) to make supportive promises. We can shape this however you’d like.

Anything meaningful: readings, poems, music, singing, family contributions, and symbolic rituals. We’ll build something that feels natural and right for your family.

Get in touch

If you’re planning a humanist naming ceremony, please get in touch. If you can, include your preferred date, location, and what you’d like the ceremony to feel like — and I’ll reply as soon as I can.
